Anthony Martial has reflected on his excellent start to life as a Man Utd player and reveals how his football career began badly.
Anthony Martial has thanked the Manchester United supporters for his seamless transition from Ligue 1 to the Premier League.
The 19-year-old has scored five goals in 14 games since his £36m move and was named the Premier League's player of the month for September.
"When I get onto the pitch, I block everything out and I really focus on the pitch," he told Foot Locker.
"It's like the stadium is empty and I'm really focused on my team and the opposing team.
"The best thing about playing football is making fans happy. The supporters help us a lot out on the pitch. The atmosphere at Old Trafford is really unique and when you're a bit tired, they really help you, they shout out your name and that gives you extra energy
"It's also because of them that I've adapted easily to Manchester."
Martial also revealed how his footballing career got off to an inauspicious start in France.
"I've always wanted to be a footballer, I never thought about doing anything else and it's what I've always wanted to do since I was little, so I'm very happy," he added.
"I remember my very first training session. It was raining hard, it was cold and I went home. I couldn't train and I stayed for 10 minutes, then I told my dad to take me home."
Martial's greatest goal was an obvious pick.
"I think the greatest goal I've ever scored is the one against Liverpool," he revealed.
"It was amazing for me and it really made my name in the Manchester team."
