Style Lessons We've Learned From Devious Maids

It's the guiltiest of guilty pleasures: a Lifetime soap opera that features some of our favorite Latina actresses in over-the-top roles that are so dramatically delicious, tuning in on Sundays almost requires a pint of ice cream. But in addition to the plot twists and theatrics (plus the fact that it's executive produced by Eva Longoria!), one of our favorite reasons to tune in to Devious Maids each week is to check out what the characters are wearing. And we've even picked up a few style lessons from the girls!

    1.
Printed Pants Look Good on Curvy Girls Too
While many girls blessed with thighs and a booty might shy away from printed pants that accentuate their assets, Carmen — played by Roselyn Sanchez — flawlessly pulls off these labyrinth-printed J Brand jeans ($100, originally $240) that perfectly hug her body. We'll take a pair, please!

    2.
    When in Doubt, Go Floral
Judy Reyes's character Zoila shows that a fun floral can look great all year round, from Spring to Fall, for a wedding, a work event, or even a date night. We love the beautiful color combination in this sophisticated Ralph Lauren faux wrap dress ($65, originally $134)

    3.
Nothing Makes a Statement Like a Gown
As an aspiring singer, Carmen isn't afraid to make a statement — so she goes full-on glam with this floor-length, glitzy beaded cutout gown from Guess ($99, originally $198), which would work for a wedding or even a fancy Summer day party on a boat.

    4.
A T-Shirt Can Be Dressed Down — or Up
This season, newcomer Bianca, played by Naya Rivera, dressed up a laidback flower tee from Lucky Brand ($23, originally $40) with a near-neon blazer. We'd rock it to work with a similar blazer or jacket or on the weekends with jeans and crisp white sneakers.

    5.
Don't Be Afraid to Take Risks

While some might encourage you to shy away from too many crazy patterns and bright colors at once, in one of the newest episodes, Marisol, played by Ana Ortiz, fearlessly rocked this funky yellow and black geometric top and skirt from A.L.C. ($228, originally $380), proving that if it feels good, it will look good.

    6.
A Bustier Is Still Just as Cool as When Selena Wore It
Remember when in Selena, the singer's dad freaked out about her revealing bustier? It was trendsetting back then, and years later, Devious Maids's Valentina (played by Edy Ganem) shows that it's a lasting style with this American Apparel bodysuit ($31, originally $62). Throw on your tried-and-true gold accessories, and you've got a fun Summer weekend or festival look.
